Sep 17, 2020 | 11:47 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Swimming enthusiasts can head back into the waters at Nicholas Sheran Pool in Lethbridge next week.

The facility will reopen with expanded swimming options on Monday, September 21.

Registration for swimming lessons at the pool will begin on Tuesday, September 22 at 9 a.m. More details on class options and registration information can be found at aquatics.lethbridge.ca.

The City of Lethbridge says as guidelines continue to be updated by the province, changes continue to be made at all pools managed by Recreation Excellence, including:

  • Having change rooms open before and after swims, but physical distancing must be maintained, and masks must be worn while users are in the change room area.
    • There will be a limited number of lockers available for use.
      • Showers will only be available as you enter the pool. Users are asked to avoid showering after their swim session.
  • Hot tubs and saunas are now open with limited capacity.
  • Public swim participants are no longer required to pre-book their swim time. Limited swims, such as lane swimming and fitness classes, still require online registration.
  • Masks must be worn by patrons in common areas of the facility.
  • Spectator areas remain closed until further notice.

Plans to reopen the Fritz Sick Pool are underway, with a reopening goal of late October.

Residents continue to be asked to comply with all COVID-19 public health orders, including gathering restrictions and maintaining physical distancing of two metres between individuals not from the same cohort. The city says the safety of staff and all residents is the number one priority.
