12 COVID cases confirmed in South Zone this weekend, none in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB. – Alberta Health Services has released Monday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past three days.

358 cases were confirmed over the weekend with 119 on Friday, 102 on Saturday, and 137 on Sunday. This brings the total to date to 16,739. Of those, 1,459 cases are active and 15,024 people have recovered.

The majority of the new infections were in the Edmonton Zone.

In the South Health Zone, 12 people tested positive with six in the County of Forty Mile, two each in Medicine Hat and the M.D. of Taber, and one each in Lethbridge County and the M.D. of Pincher Creek.

One resident in the region has been admitted to ICU, although Alberta Health did not specify which community that person is from.

One person in the Calgary Zone died as a result of the virus, bringing the total to 256.

Provincially, 51 patients are currently hospitalized and nine have been admitted to intensive care units.

1,215,672 tests have been completed among 932,912 different Albertans.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is as follows:

  • Calgary zone – 8,421 cases, 462 active
    • 121 deaths (one new)
    • 24 in hospital – five in ICU
  • Edmonton zone – 4,484 cases, 747 active
    • 69 deaths
    • 19 in hospital – three in ICU
  • South zone – 1,810 cases, 45 active
    • 25 deaths
    • One in hospital, one in ICU
  • North zone – 1,330 cases, 181 active
    • 34 deaths
    • Seven in hospital
  • Central zone – 656 cases, 20 active
    • Seven deaths
    • None in hospital

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,132 cases, six active, nine deaths
  • Lethbridge – 169 cases, four active, two deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 70 cases, four active, one death
    • South Lethbridge – 59 cases, zero active
    • North Lethbridge – 40 cases, zero active, one death
  • Cardston County – 105 cases, three active, five deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 81 cases (two new), nine active, two deaths
  • County of Warner – 62 cases, one active, one death
  • Lethbridge County – 45 cases (one new), seven active
  • M.D. of Taber – 42 cases (two active), three active
  • County of Forty Mile – 35 cases (six new), 11 active
  • Fort Macleod – 33 cases, zero active, three deaths
  • County of Newell – 32 cases, zero active, two deaths
  • Cypress County – 31 cases, zero active
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 27 cases (one new), one active, one death
  • Crowsnest Pass – Two cases, zero active
