AHS confirms 150 new COVID cases in Alberta

LETHBRIDGE, AB. – Alberta Health Services has released Tuesday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past 24 hours.

150 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 16,889. Of those, 1,565 cases are active while 15,066 people have recovered.

Most of the new infections are in the Edmonton Health Zone, while in the South Health Zone, three people tested positive with one each in Medicine Hat, Lethbridge County, and the County of Forty Mile.

The County of Warner is now free of active cases.

One person each in the Calgary and Edmonton Zones died as a result of the virus, meaning it has taken 258 lives in Alberta.

Provincially, 51 patients are currently hospitalized and nine have been admitted to intensive care units.

1,229,939 tests have been competed among 942,342 people in the province.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is as follows:

  • Calgary zone – 8,460 cases, 485 active
    • 122 deaths (one new)
    • 25 in hospital, four in ICU
  • Edmonton zone – 4,572 cases, 820 active
    • 70 deaths (one new)
    • 18 in hospital, three in ICU
  • South zone – 1,813 cases, 41 active
    • 25 deaths
    • Two in hospital, two in ICU
  • North zone – 1,343 cases, 188 active
    • 34 deaths
    • Six in hospital
  • Central zone – 660 cases, 24 active
    • Seven deaths
    • None in hospital

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,132 cases, six active, nine deaths
  • Lethbridge – 169 cases, four active, two deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 70 cases, four active, one death
    • South Lethbridge – 59 cases, zero active
    • North Lethbridge – 40 cases, zero active, one death
  • Cardston County – 105 cases, three active, five deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 82 cases (one new), nine active, two deaths
  • County of Warner – 62 cases, zero active, one death
  • Lethbridge County – 46 cases (one new), four active
  • M.D. of Taber – 42 cases, three active
  • County of Forty Mile – 36 cases (one new), 11 active
  • Fort Macleod – 33 cases, zero active, three deaths
  • County of Newell – 32 cases, zero active, two deaths
  • Cypress County – 31 cases, zero active
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 27 cases, one active, one death
  • Crowsnest Pass – Two cases, zero active
