Before a full search for a new head coach begins, the ‘Horns have announced who will serve as their interim coach, and it’s a familiar face in the Lethbridge community.

Sean Carey, the current coach of the Lethbridge College Kodiaks soccer teams, will swing over across the river to lead the U of L women’s team.

Carey was named the 2019 CCAA (Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association) National Coach of the Year.

He’s the bench boss of both the Lethbridge College men and women’s soccer teams and will continue in that role while he helps the U of L’s team.

“A big thank you to Lethbridge College Athletic Director Todd Caughlin for agreeing to share Sean with us for the next month,” stated Pronghorn Athletics Director Neil Langevin.

“We are excited to have Sean lead the women’s soccer technical training through the end of fall. Sean has a great track record with the college and brings a wealth of technical knowledge to the women’s team.”

A season ago, Carey led the Kodiaks men’s team to the program’s first ACAC (Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference) championship and a berth in the CCAA nationals.

In the ACAC final, the Kodiaks defeated Red Deer College and went on to finish seventh at the CCAA championship in Oshawa, Ontario.

Pronghorn Athletics has announced they will begin a full search for a new head coach of the women’s soccer program in the new year.
