U of L holding virtual open house Saturday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The University of Lethbridge is holding an open house this weekend.

However, Saturday’s event will be done virtually to accommodate COVID-19 restrictions. It will give potential students and their families a snapshot of what the U of L has to offer.

Attendees can use their laptops, desktop computers, tablets or phones to attend.

“We love the in-person experience of greeting our potential students and allowing them the opportunity to walk the halls, see our lecture and laboratory spaces and just be a part of our incredible campus culture,” said associate vide-president (students), Kathleen Massey, in a release.

“We will miss that face-to-face interaction, but I see a lot of positives in moving our activities online. Not everybody could make the trip here physically in the past and by going virtual, we can now involve everyone, including more family members.”

All of the university’s faculties and schools will be represented at the open house via virtual booths.

A virtual campus tour will also give attendees a chance to see all the campus highlights from their own home.

“We’re going to have a lot of fun with this and, thanks to the work of our staff and faculty throughout the University, our potential students and their families are going to get a really good look at the full U of L experience,” Massey said.

“We utilized the same virtual format for our New Student Orientation activities, and they were really well attended, and we received some great feedback.”

Potential students to the U of L can also engage in one-on-one meetings with faculty members, instructors, staff and current students during the virtual open house.

For qualified undergraduate applicants who apply on September 26, an accelerated admission process will generate a reply within three business days.

Open House 2020 is on from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26.
