160 new COVID-19 cases confirmed across Alberta on Tuesday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released Tuesday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past 24 hours.

160 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 17,909. Of those, 1,571 cases are active while 16,072 people have recovered.

Most of these infections occurred in the Calgary and Edmonton Zones while not a single person tested positive in the South Zone.

One person in the Edmonton Zone died as a result of the virus, meaning it has claimed the lives of 266 Albertans to date.

Provincially, 63 patients are currently hospitalized and 13 have been admitted to intensive care units.

1,320,550 tests have been completed among 1,001,638 different Albertans.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is as follows:

  • Calgary zone – 8,845 cases, 574 active
    • 125 deaths
    • 30 in hospital, seven in ICU
  • Edmonton zone – 5,104 cases, 815 active
    • 74 deaths (one new)
    • 21 in hospital, four in ICU
  • South zone – 1,828 cases, 40 active
    • 25 deaths
    • Five in hospital, two in ICU
  • North zone – 1,425 cases, 120 active
    • 35 deaths
    • Six in hospital, one in ICU
  • Central zone – 669 cases, 21 active
    • Seven deaths
    • None in hospital

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,133 cases, three active, nine deaths
  • Lethbridge – 173 cases, four active, two deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 73 cases (one new), three active, one death
    • South Lethbridge – 60 cases, one active
    • North Lethbridge – 40 cases, zero active, one death
  • Cardston County – 105 cases, two active, five deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 82 cases, four active, two deaths
  • County of Warner – 63 cases, one active, one death
  • Lethbridge County – 48 cases, five active
  • M.D. of Taber – 44 cases, four active
  • County of Forty Mile – 40 cases, 13 active
  • Cypress County – 33 cases, two active
  • Fort Macleod – 33 cases, zero active, three deaths
  • County of Newell – 32 cases, zero active, two deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 27 cases, one active, one death
  • Crowsnest Pass – Two cases, zero active
