City reminder of fall leaf collection program

Oct 2, 2020 | 12:58 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB– The City of Lethbridge is reminding the public about the fall leaf collection program.

Between October 12 and November 13 residents can request an appointment to have their bagged leaves picked up.

By calling 311, residents can arrange a pick-up for their fall leaves which is available from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Staff will then provide callers with a date when they can expect their leaves to be collected.

Only paper yard waste bags are accepted for the Fall Leaf Collection Program because all leaves and bags will be composted together, reducing landfill waste.

To get their leaves collected properly, leaves have to be put in paper yard waste bags and placed in the area where garbage is normally collected.

Bags should be placed outside 24 hours ahead of the pick-up date and 1.5 meters away from waste collection carts.

Paper yard waste bags are available for purchase at retail stores throughout Lethbridge.
