LETHBRIDGE, AB– The story of five unlucky birds have been given a happy ending.

A little over a year ago, five separate birds were injured in a couple of different incidents such as being hit by a car, hitting powerlines, and other incidents.

The Alberta Birds of Prey Foundation have given these birds the treatment and rehabilitation time they needed in order to be released back into the wild.

In partnership with Calgary-based company, Altalink, these birds are given a second chance at a normal life.

LNN made the video package below of the release.

“We are so grateful to have AltaLink as a generous supporter of our facility,” says Colin Weir, managing director, Alberta Birds of Prey Foundation.

“Since AltaLink employees often rescue birds they encounter during their work travels across Alberta, what better way to show our appreciation than by inviting them to release the birds they saved themselves.”

“AltaLink’s thoughtful support for our environmental work is more appreciated than ever, especially during these most challenging times.”

Weir says he can’t put it into words how happy he is seeing these birds get healthy and fly back into the world.

Altalink employees say many birds fly into powerlines, buildings, and vehicles and some barely escape death.

It goes to show how a nurturing helping hand can get some animals the help they need.
