Lethbridge & Lethbridge County each see nine new COVID cases

LETHBRIDGE, AB. — Alberta Health Services has released Wednesday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past 24 hours.

143 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 19,354. Of those, 1,910 cases are active while 17,163 people have recovered.

That includes 18 infections in the South Health Zone with both the city of Lethbridge and Lethbridge County each having nine people test positive.

LNN reported Wednesday morning that about 20 cases have been linked to a local church community and three have contracted the virus at the Children’s House Child Care Society.

LNN media colleagues, Global Lethbridge, were notified by a source in the community that the church in question is the Coalhurst Good News Centre.

In the city, 38 infections are currently active while 26 are active in the county, which encompasses several rural communities in the area.

Across Alberta, there have been no additional COVID-19 deaths, meaning it has still claimed the lives of 281 people.

Provincially, 66 patients are currently hospitalized and 13 have been admitted to intensive care units.

1,456,219 tests have been completed among 1,085,790 different people.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is as follows:

  • Calgary zone – 9,253 cases, 620 active
    • 130 deaths
    • 31 in hospital, seven in ICU
  • Edmonton zone – 5,974 cases, 1,085 active
    • 83 deaths
    • 28 in hospital, five in ICU
  • South zone – 1,900 cases, 78 active
    • 26 deaths
    • One in hospital, one in ICU
  • North zone – 1,490 cases, 90 active
    • 35 deaths
    • Five in hospital
  • Central zone – 694 cases, 30 active
    • Seven deaths
    • One in hospital

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,132 cases, three active, nine deaths
  • Lethbridge – 210 cases (nine new), 38 active, two deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 84 cases (five new), 12 active, one death
    • South Lethbridge – 75 cases (four new), 15 active
    • North Lethbridge – 51 cases, 11 active, one death
  • Cardston County – 106 cases, three active, five deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 83 cases, two active, two deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 80 cases (nine new), 26 active
  • County of Warner – 63 cases, zero active, one death
  • M.D. of Taber – 44 cases, one active
  • County of Forty Mile – 40 cases, three active
  • Cypress County – 33 cases, one active
  • Fort Macleod – 33 cases, zero active, three deaths
  • County of Newell – 33 cases, one active, two deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 27 cases, zero active, two deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – Two cases, zero active
