Season six premiere of Battle of the Blades postponed

Oct 7, 2020 | 10:45 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Fans excited to watch the newest season of CBC’s Battle of the Blades will have to wait a little longer.

The show’s sixth season was set to premiere October 15.

Unfortunately, the premiere has been postponed.

In a release, it was noted that an individual on the show’s production team tested positive for COVID-19.

Because of this, Insight Productions has temporarily halted all training and pre-production on the season “to ensure the health and safety of the entire cast and crew”.

Southern Albertans will have a special interest in the show this season, as Lethbridge’s Kris Versteeg, a two-time Stanley Cup champion, is competing.

Versteeg will team with B.C.’s Carlotta Edwards and will be representing the Opokaa’sin Early Intervention Society, based out of Lethbridge.

Edwards, meanwhile, will represent Big Brother Big Sisters of Calgary and Area.

CBC said an update on the season premiere will be provided as soon as possible.
