City seeking feedback on Lethbridge’s river valley

LETHBRIDGE, AB– The City of Lethbridge wants to know what you like to do in the river valley, what you would like to happen with it, and river valley use and preservation.

By sending out a survey, the city is looking for suggestions and feedback on what Lethbridge residents want to see.

Lethbridge’s river valley consists of over 1,700 hectares and is a vital piece of the city’s nature.

Starting next week, postcards will be delivered to homes with information on how each household can share their ideas and thoughts.

The information collected through the survey will help to develop a summary report that will identify management strategies.

The survey takes about 10-15 minutes to complete and is important for the future of the river valley.

Lethbridge Parks Planning Manager Chris Witkowski, says the river valley is used recreationally more and more.

“As we’re finding population is expanding in Lethbridge, there’s recreational use occurring the river valley, we’re definitely not trying to restrict or eliminate any recreation, but we wanna make sure we’re also balancing that with preservation of the natural resources and this project is about getting feedback from the residents.”

When residents receive their postcard, it will be printed with a unique code for their household that they can use to complete the survey.
