Albertans invited to share thoughts for Budget 2021

EDMONTON, AB – Albertans have an opportunity to share their thoughts on the upcoming Budget 2021.

Minister of Finance Travis Toews spoke Wednesday morning on how residents can have their say on the government’s economic plan.

An online survey is now available for Albertans. It will be open until December 4 and can be accessed via the Government of Alberta website.

Toews added he will be hosting ‘telephone town halls’ as well, on November 30, December 2 and 3.

“The telephone town halls – one for northern, one for central and another for southern Alberta – will give Albertans another opportunity to share their ideas directly with me,” he said.

“Every Albertan is dealing with the effects of the massive downturn in our province’s economy and provincial finances, and Alberta’s government needs their perspectives.”

Toews commented that he’s looking forward to listening to the ideas, concerns and thoughts of residents, on how everyone can work together to bring Alberta “back to prosperity”.

“We have a great task ahead of us but as I’ve said before, Albertans have proven time and time again that we’re an entrepreneurial and resilient people. Let’s come together and face this challenge together and set a new course for Alberta’s future.”

The provincial government will also be launching a digital ‘build a budget’ tool in next month.

It will ask Albertans to make choices about spending and revenue and then show the resulting impacts on the overall budget.

Alberta faces a record-setting deficit for 2020-2021 of $24.2 billion.
