COVID-19 outbreak declared at St. Francis Junior High in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Holy Spirit Catholic School Division has been informed of the second case of COVID-19 at a local school.

Officials declined to say whether the impacted persons were staff or students, but it is not believed to be an instance of in-school transmission.

When it comes to schools, Alberta Health Services (AHS) has set a “low threshold” of two infections counting as an outbreak.

Those impacted are now self-isolating and following the guidance of AHS.

“Please be reminded that, out of respect for those impacted and in accordance with AHS guidelines, any further details about members of the community who may test positive for COVID-19 cannot be disclosed,” reads an advisory from the school board.
