Lethbridge sees 22 more COVID cases in one day

LETHBRIDGE, AB — Alberta Health Services has released Wednesday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past 24 hours.

243 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 21,199. Of those, 2,689 cases are active while 18,223 people have recovered.

That includes 28 in the South Health Zone with 22 in Lethbridge, five in Lethbridge County, and one in Medicine Hat.

The City of Lethbridge now has 112 active infections while the county has 45.

Mayor Chris Spearman spoke Wednesday about Lethbridge now being under a COVID-19 watch.

One person in the Edmonton Zone died as a result of the virus, meaning it has now claimed the lives of 287 in Alberta.

Provincially, 100 patients are currently hospitalized and 14 have been admitted to intensive care units.

1,571,176 tests have been completed among 1,152,435 different people.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is as follows:

  • Calgary zone – 9,751 cases, 791 active
    • 132 deaths
    • 39 in hospital, six in ICU
  • Edmonton zone – 7,008 cases, 1,473 active
    • 87 deaths (one new)
    • 48 in hospital, six in ICU
  • South zone – 2,018 cases, 177 active
    • 26 deaths
    • Four in hospital
  • North zone – 1,580 cases, 124 active
    • 35 deaths
    • Six in hospital, two in ICU
  • Central zone – 789 cases, 108 active
    • Seven deaths
    • Three in hospital

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,134 cases, four active, nine deaths
  • Lethbridge – 296 cases (22 new), 112 active, two deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 114 cases (five new), 36 active, one death
    • South Lethbridge – 103 cases (six new), 41 active
    • North Lethbridge – 79 cases (11 new), 37 active, one death
  • Cardston County – 106 cases, three active, five deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 101 cases (five new), 45 active
  • Medicine Hat – 85 cases (one new), four active, two deaths
  • County of Warner – 65 cases, three active, one death
  • M.D. of Taber – 44 cases, zero active
  • County of Forty Mile – 42 cases, three active
  • County of Newell – 35 cases, three active, two deaths
  • Cypress County – 33 cases, zero active
  • Fort Macleod – 33 cases, zero active, three deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 27 cases, zero active, two deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – Two cases, zero active
