STANDOFF, AB – The family of a missing Blood Tribe man is asking for the public’s help.

46-year-old Jason Many Fingers was last seen fueling up his father’s white 2005 GMC Sierra truck at the Fas Gas in Pincher Creek on September 20, 2020.

He hasn’t been seen since and was reported missing on October 1.

Blood Tribe Police Sergeant Rayan Najjar says Many Fingers has no known ties to Pincher Creek, and the police service is treating the situation as a missing person’s file.

“It’s not suspicious in nature…we implemented a missing person’s act, which allows us to search banking and cell phone activity among other things,” he said on Friday morning.

“That’s why we are now asking the public for their assistance to providing us any surveillance in the Pincher Creek area, again on September 20th in the afternoon. If they do have any information, call our tip line or CrimeStoppers as well.”

Najjar said since September 20, there has been no cell phone or banking activity from Many Fingers. He noted Many Fingers was last seen on surveillance camera at 3:45 p.m. at the Fas Gas.

“Jason was last seen wearing black sweatpants, a grey shirt, a dark grey hooded zip-up, black and white running shoes and a dark coloured baseball hat,” Najjar said.

Many Fingers is described as six feet tall and approximately 175 pounds.

His father, Randy Many Fingers, said his son is friendly and outgoing.

“He was staying at our house for the past two months with his daughter,” he commented, adding it’s out of character for Jason to disappear like he has.

“People are asking us where or what happened and we can’t answer that question, but you have to go through [Blood Tribe Police] and people mean well, but sometimes we just want to avoid the public because we don’t know where our son is…our son is around and I want him to come home.”

Sergeant Najjar said Many Fingers has connections in Brocket, but the reasons for his being in Pincher Creek are not known to police or the family.

He added that to the police’s understanding, there was no odd or different behaviour shown by Many Fingers the night and day before his disappearance.

“We’re always following leads. It’s an open investigation,” he said.

“The surveillance [footage] will help us with probably [with Many Fingers’] direction of travel into and out of Pincher Creek.”

Najjar said a search is something police want to do, but at this time, they do not have enough evidence to conduct a police-led search for Many Fingers.

He said the public’s assistance with any tips will help police narrow down an area that they can start a ground or aerial search in.

“We just need to narrow down the search area,” he explained.

Randy Many Fingers said friends and family have been conducting searches of their own for Jason.

“Some of his friends and us, we’ve driven around the Beaver Mine area, Timber Limit area, Crowsnest Pass area and surrounding mountain [areas around] Lethbridge, Fort Macleod, Pincher Creek. We’ve been on the go, all of us, family members and their friends are helping, just looking on their own.”

Anyone with further information on Many Fingers’ whereabouts is asked to contact Blood Tribe Police at 403-737-3800, CrimeStoppers or their local police agency.
