898 COVID cases in Alberta this weekend, one death in Lethbridge County

LETHBRIDGE, AB — Alberta Health Services has released Monday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past three days.

898 cases were confirmed this weekend with 311 on Friday, 231 on Saturday, and 356 on Sunday. That brings the total to 22,673 cases to date, 3,138 of which are active while 19,243 people have recovered.

The Calgary and Edmonton Zones made up 757 of the new positive tests.

In the South Health Zone, 44 people contracted the virus with 24 in Lethbridge, seven in Lethbridge County, six in Brooks, two each in Medicine Hat and the County of Newell, and one each in the M.D. of Taber and Cypress County.

Four Albertans died from COVID-19 including two in the Calgary Zone and one each in the South and Central Zones.

The death in the South Zone was for a man 80+ years old who was a resident of Lethbridge County.

Provincially, 117 patients are currently hospitalized and 18 have been admitted to intensive care units.

1,640,351 tests have been completed among 1,190,239 different Albertans.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is as follows:

  • Calgary zone – 10,250 cases, 998 active
    • 134 deaths (two new)
    • 42 in hospital, six in ICU
  • Edmonton zone – 7,736 cases, 1,604 active
    • 88 deaths
    • 64 in hospital, eight in ICU
  • South zone – 2,102 cases, 191 active
    • 27 deaths (one new)
    • Four in hospital, two in ICU
  • North zone – 1,678 cases, 180 active
    • 35 deaths
    • Four in hospital, two in ICU
  • Central zone – 849 cases, 148 active
    • Eight deaths (one new)
    • Three in hospital

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,145 cases (six new), 14 active, nine deaths
  • Lethbridge – 350 cases (24 new), 134 active, two deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 132 cases (10 new), 43 active, one death
    • South Lethbridge – 119 cases (eight new), 43 active
    • North Lethbridge – 99 cases (six new), 48 active, one death
  • Lethbridge County – 112 cases (seven new), 25 active, one death (one new)
  • Cardston County – 106 cases, two active, five deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 87 cases (two new), three active, two deaths
  • County of Warner – 65 cases, two active, one death
  • M.D. of Taber – 45 cases (one new), one active
  • County of Forty Mile – 43 cases, three active
  • County of Newell – 37 cases (two new), four active, two deaths
  • Cypress County – 34 cases (one new), one active
  • Fort Macleod – 33 cases, zero active, three deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 27 cases, zero active, two deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – Two cases, zero active
