Lethbridge County seeking input on proposed parking bylaw, rural broadband and 2021 budget

Oct 20, 2020 | 9:27 AM

LETHBRIDGE COUNTY, AB – Lethbridge County wants your input.

The county is seeking the ideas of residents for a proposed parking bylaw, a rural broadband expansion and the 2021 budget.

PROPOSED PARKING BYLAW

Lethbridge County is considering implementing a parking bylaw due to complaints of commercial vehicles, trailers, RVs and other improperly parked vehicles within residential and industrial areas.

Currently, there is no parking bylaw in place, which the county says makes it difficult to enforce parking restrictions in those areas.

The proposed bylaw outlines many regulations for parking on Lethbridge County roads, specifically within hamlets and subdivisions.

RURAL BROADBAND

Lethbridge County has identified a lack of rural broadband service in the region.

“Council and Senior Staff are currently collaborating with other municipalities to lobby the provincial and federal governments for their assistance in ensuring that internet service is available to everyone, no matter how remote their home or business,” the county stated in a release.

Staff are looking for feedback to use as a guide and better determine what specific needs exist in the region for residents and businesses.

Further details on Lethbridge County’s recent efforts to improve rural broadband service, as well as a survey can be found here.

2021 BUDGET

Council and the county’s Senior Staff will soon start the 2021 budget process. They’re asking for input from residents and businesses on what their priorities are for the future of Lethbridge County.

More information on the budget process and the feedback form can be found here.

“We value the input we receive from our citizens and businesses,” said county CAO Ann Mitchell.

“We want to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to comment, and so I strongly encourage the public to provide their feedback on each of these initiatives so we can make informed decisions going forward.”

Paper copies of the parking bylaw, rural broadband and 2021 budget feedback forms are also available at the county’s Lethbridge office (#100, 905 4 Avenue S.).
