LPS investigating pair of carjackings from this week

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Police are looking into two incidents of vehicles being stolen in the city.

In the first instance, around 9:30 pm on Monday, October 19, a vehicle was stolen near a business on the 500 block of 13 Street North.

The driver had left the vehicle running and unlocked, and upon leaving the store, noticed that someone was getting into his vehicle.

The suspect got away and the victim suffered “unknown injuries” in the process.

The vehicle was found abandoned after colliding with a parked car.

A police K-9 was able to track down the suspect in a home on the 2100 block of 5 Ave North.

Grant Tyler Williams, 35, of Lethbridge, faces charges of theft of a motor vehicle, robbery, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and failure or refusal to provide a breath sample.

Williams remains in custody and is awaiting a bail hearing.

The second incident occurred on the 400 block of 13 Street North at approximately 1:00 am on Tuesday, October 20.

The owner of a 1993 Buick Regal told police that he got out of his vehicle and walked to the passenger side when an unknown man got in and drove away.

The victim was unable to stop the suspect and suffered minor injuries in the process.

The suspect left the scene heading northbound on 13 Street.

He is described as a caucasian man, about 5’10”, with a scruffy beard and glasses.

The suspect was wearing a tan parka-style jacked with the hood up.

The vehicle has the Alberta license plate number FAF-426.
