406 new COVID-19 cases in Alberta Wednesday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released Wednesday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past 24 hours.

406 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 23,402. Of those, 3,372 cases are active while 19,734 people have recovered.

Three new people have died in the province bringing the total to 296.

That includes 20 new infections in the South Health Zone with 18 in Lethbridge.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is as follows:

  • Calgary zone – 10,566 cases, 1,174 active
    • 135 deaths (one new)
    • 44 in hospital, five in ICU
  • Edmonton zone – 8,063 cases, 1,649 active
    • 91 deaths (two new)
    • 60 in hospital, seven in ICU
  • South zone – 2,139 cases, 203 active
    • 27 deaths
    • Three in hospital, two in ICU
  • North zone – 1,712 cases, 189 active
    • 35 deaths
    • Four in hospital, two in ICU
  • Central zone – 863 cases, 140 active
    • Eight deaths
    • Two in hospital

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,146 cases, 15 active, nine deaths
  • Lethbridge – 379 cases (18 new), 147 active, two deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 140 cases (five new), 44 active, one death
    • South Lethbridge – 128 cases (five new), 47 active
    • North Lethbridge – 111 cases (eight new), 56 active, one death
  • Lethbridge County – 112 cases, 18 active, one death
  • Cardston County – 106 cases, two active, five deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 88 cases, four active, two deaths
  • County of Warner – 65 cases, one active, one death
  • M.D. of Taber – 45 cases, one active
  • County of Forty Mile – 44 cases, three active
  • County of Newell – 39 cases (one new), six active, two deaths
  • Cypress County – 36 cases (one new), three active
  • Fort Macleod – 33 cases, zero active, three deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 27 cases, zero active, two deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – Two cases, zero active
