Multiple UCP officials self-isolating after Minister Tracy Allard’s positive test

EDMONTON, AB– Several United Conservative Party officials are self-isolating after Minister Tracy Allard tested positive for COVID-19.

Premier Jason Kenney and Lethbridge-East MLA Nathan Neudorf are among the few that are self-isolating.

Kenney has tested negative but will complete the mandatory 14-day self-isolation period.

The information comes from Kenney’s facebook post and reads:

“Late this afternoon, I was informed that Minister Tracy Allard had just received positive PCR test results for COVID-19. As I attended events with Minister Allard on Thursday, October 15, I immediately followed Alberta public health guidelines by going into self-isolation at my home in Edmonton.

This afternoon I was tested for the virus, and the results have come back negative. I am feeling healthy, and am not exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms.

Our public health guidelines require that those who have come into close contact with someone who has COVID-19 self-isolate for 14 days following the time of exposure. As a result, I will remain in self-isolation until the afternoon of Thursday, October 29. During that time I will continue to work from home.

Minister Ric McIver, and MLAs Angela Pitt and Peter Guthrie attended the same functions with Minister Allard last week. I understand that they are undergoing testing, and they will be subject to the same self-isolation protocol. MLA Nathan Neudorf is also isolating from a separate interaction with Minister Allard.

I wish Minister Allard, and all of those infected by COVID-19, a successful recovery.

And I would like to thank, once again, our health care personnel for doing such great work under these challenging circumstances.”

LNN will update the story as more tests come back.
