Alberta surpasses Thursday’s record daily COVID numbers with 432 positive

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released Friday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past 24 hours.

432 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 24,261. Of those, 3,651 cases are active while 20,310 people have recovered.

A new record for infections in a single day in Alberta was set Thursday with 427 positive tests, but that has already been surpassed one day later.

For Friday’s update, 191 people in the Edmonton Zone tested positive as did 148 in the Calgary Zone.

Meanwhile, in the South Health Zone, 41 cases were confirmed with 25 in Lethbridge, seven in Brooks, six in Lethbridge County, and one each in the County of Warner, the M.D. of Taber, and Cypress County.

Across the region, 234 cases are active while includes 161 just for Lethbridge.

Four Albertans died as a result of COVID-19 with three in the Edmonton Zone and one in the Calgary Zone. To date, the virus has claimed the lives of 300 Albertans.

Provincially, 112 patients are currently hospitalized and 14 have been admitted to intensive care units.

1,697,849 tests have been completed among 1,220,803 different people.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is as follows:

  • Calgary zone – 10,871 cases, 1,307 active
    • 136 deaths (one new)
    • 40 in hospital, three in ICU
  • Edmonton zone – 8,474 cases, 1,751 active
    • 94 deaths (three new)
    • 61 in hospital, seven in ICU
  • South zone – 2,195 cases, 234 active
    • 27 deaths
    • Four in hospital, two in ICU
  • North zone – 1,775 cases, 222 active
    • 35 deaths
    • Four in hospital, two in ICU
  • Central zone – 892 cases, 126 active
    • Eight deaths
    • Three in hospital

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,153 cases (seven new), 22 active, nine deaths
  • Lethbridge – 415 cases (25 new), 161 active, two deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 155 cases (11 new), 52 active, one death
    • South Lethbridge – 137 cases (eight new), 47 active
    • North Lethbridge – 123 cases (six new), 62 active, one death
  • Lethbridge County – 119 cases (six new), 25 active, one death
  • Cardston County – 107 cases, three active, five deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 89 cases, five active, two deaths
  • County of Warner – 66 cases (one new), one active, one death
  • M.D. of Taber – 48 cases (one new), four active
  • County of Forty Mile – 44 cases, two active
  • County of Newell – 39 cases, five active, two deaths
  • Cypress County – 37 cases (one new), four active
  • Fort Macleod – 33 cases, zero active, three deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 27 cases, zero active, two deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – Two cases, zero active
