LETHBRIDGE, AB – COVID-19 has made its impact felt on another sports team.

The Lethbridge Lightning have announced that the 2020-2021 Ranchland Hockey League season has been cancelled because of the pandemic.

“The majority of teams agreed for both the health and safety of players and fans [that] the season would not proceed,” the team stated in a release.

“2020 was to be a banner year for the Lightning; hosting the Hockey Alberta Senior “AA” Provincial and for the third straight year, appearing in the Ranchland Hockey League Championship.”

The league’s board wishes “only good health” to players, sponsors, fans and the entire community.

“We look forward to the time when the Lightning can again don their blades and participate in Canada’s great game.”
