Best Buy, Backstreet West temporarily closed due to COVID-19

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A couple of Lethbridge businesses have temporarily closed due to COVID-19.

A sign posted on the front door of Best Buy on Mayor Magrath Drive South says “employees” at the electronics shop have tested positive for the virus.

“Those employees are now at home in isolation,” reads the sign, which can be seen below and is dated October 29, 2020.

Best Buy says the store has since been fully disinfected. However, it remains temporarily closed.

“Where possible, we have notified customers directly that we believe may have been in close proximity with these employees.”

Anybody who visited the store between October 22 and October 28 is advised to follow guidelines set by Alberta Health Services.

BACKSTREET WEST

Restaurant Backstreet West stated on social media that an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

The employee’s last shift was the evening of October 28, 2020. Because of this, the business says it has temporarily closed.

“This is not an AHS mandated closure,” reads the notice.

“It’s a preventative measure to protect our patrons and employees.”

Backstreet went on to say their top priority is the safety and well being of its staff and guests.

“To keep our community safe, we will reopen when we are confident that there is no risk for transmission.”
