LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Speed Skating Association has received some relief to weather the COVID-19 storm.

In September, Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities announced an $8 million sport relief fund to help sport and recreation organizations continue delivering programming this year and beyond.

The Lethbridge Speed Skating Association says they have learned that they are among the 668 organizations to receive a grant through Jumpstart’s Sport Relief Fund.

The local club is getting $15,000 in funding.

“We are beyond grateful to receive this news and know how positive an impact it will have on sport and recreation organizations, and ultimately, on kids across the country,” the association said in a release.

“With Jumpstart’s support, we will be able to continue to promote the sport of speed skating in southern Alberta, provide training and development opportunities to our volunteer coaches and officials and to repair and rebuild our equipment so we can continue to provide a safe training environment with affordable rental options to our skater families.”
