Possible changes coming to Lethbridge digitally

Nov 10, 2020 | 6:00 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB– At Monday’s (November 9) Community Issues Committee, it was noted some potential changes may be coming to the city’s virtual infrastructure.

The presentation to councillors of the Digital Transformation Master Plan indicates an intent to make city sites more interactive.

Some of the recommendations moving forward are:

• Re-orient service delivery around a vision of “The Citizen at the Centre.”

• Create a “halo project” whose fulfillment will require the necessary internal restructuring to put the Citizen at the Centre.

• Take a series of first steps required to begin implementation, derived by working backwards from the requirements of the halo project.

• Grapple with the technological, cultural, and staffing changes needed to reorient service delivery around the vision of the Citizen at the Centre.

Data has shown that previously, 60% of city site visitors are through mobile devices and plans on making services more accessible through those devices.

The city will look to possibly change the framework and maintain the security of each city site while improving its capabilities.

There will also be an attempt to create “a new citizen portal” which will become the one-stop-shop for all digital services to citizens, just as 311 has become the single point of contact for all phone calls.
