Nov 13, 2020 | 12:57 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Many community facilities in Lethbridge will either have altered operations or will be closed over the next two weeks.

Premier Jason Kenney announced Thursday a series of limited-time restrictions meant to limit the rising tide of COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths.

The measures are in effect for two weeks between November 13-27 in Alberta’s six largest cities (Lethbridge being one of them) and all “purple zone areas.”

The measures include prohibiting all team sports activities and indoor group fitness classes.

The City of Lethbridge has issued the following updates for their facilities in light on these restrictions:

City arenas

Based on the Government of Alberta’s new targeted health measures, all team sports at City arenas have been cancelled from November 13-27.

  • Group bookings will be permitted on a case by case basis but sticks and pucks are not permitted on the ice. Bookings can be made by calling 403-320-3009 during business hours.
  • Public skating will be permitted but only 25 skaters will be permitted on the ice at one time
    • Additional public skating times may become available. Visit www.lethbridge.ca/publicskating or call the 24 Hour Public Skate Line at 403 320 4971 to find public skating times.
  • Due to the reduction in group bookings, only the following arenas will remain open until team sports resume:
    • ATB Ice Arenas
    • Henderson Ice Centre
    • Logan Boulet Arena
    • ENMAX Centre

Pools operated by Recreation Excellence

There are no team sports using pools operated Recreation Excellence. All fitness classes have been cancelled until November 27. All other activities – including swimming lessons, lane swim and public swimming – will continue while following all public health guidelines that are currently in place.
