EDMONTON, AB. — After tripping over the 1000 COVID-19 infection mark announced on Saturday, the number slipped down on Sunday (Nov 15). However, the 991 new cases identified are nothing to be proud of.

When those 991 new cases for Saturday are added to the 1026 cases on Friday that brings the two day total to 2017.

There are currently 9,618 active cases in Alberta. Also, Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, says she is sad to report an additional six deaths, which takes the provincial death toll to 407.

Five of Saturday’s deaths were in the Edmonton Zone and one was in the Calgary Zone.

There are 262 people in hospital, up six, and 58 people in intensive care, up four.

“My heartfelt condolences to all families mourning a loved one today,” stated Hinshaw.

“As I’ve said before, we are at a critical point, and we all have a say in how we’ll fare in the weeks and months ahead. The targeted measures introduced last week include a number of actions that you and your household can take to help limit the spread of COVID-19.”

“If you reside in a community on the enhanced list, refrain from any social gatherings inside your home, wear a mask in all indoor workplaces, and limit your cohorts to three.”

The province will provide a detailed update including local COVID-19 numbers for Sunday, on Monday afternoon, November 16.
