LETHBRIDGE, AB – A weekend traffic stop in Lethbridge led to the seizure of drugs, weapons and over $25,000 worth of stolen property. As a result, two city men have been charged.

The incident started just before 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 14. Police noted a vehicle parked illegally at the rear of the Coalbanks Inn along the 300-block of 5 Street South.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested on outstanding warrants. About 50 grams of methamphetamine – the equivalent of “some 500 doses” – was recovered from the car, according to the Lethbridge Police Service (LPS).

Subsequently, with help from the Downtown Policing Unit, Crime Suppression Team and Priority Crimes Unit, a search warrant was executed in an apartment unit in the Coalbanks Inn.

LPS says this led to the discovery of an additional 10 grams of methamphetamine, as well as cocaine, oxycodone pills, bear spray, edged weapons and more than 100 digital devices, including cell phones, computers and tablets, linked to thefts from motor vehicles across Lethbridge.
