Nov 26, 2020 | 8:53 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service wants to hear from the community.

The LPS is scheduled for a site-based assessment as part of a program to receive accreditation by verifying it meets professional standards.

The program asks agencies to comply with “state-of-the-art” standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services. The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA)is administering the program.

As part of the process, agency employees and residents of the community are invited to offer their thoughts about the Lethbridge Police Service’s ability to comply with the above-listed standards for accreditation.

Residents can participate in a virtual public hearing scheduled for Monday, November 30 at 5:00 p.m.

That can be done online at lethbridgepoliceservice.webex.com or by telephone at 1 (780) 851-3573 (Canada toll) or 1 (408) 418-9388 (United States toll). The member ID for the meeting is 146 831 3225 and the password is ‘Public’.

People can also offer comments by calling (403) 330-5141 on November 30 between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
