Lethbridge College hosting Alumni Holiday Bakeoff

Nov 27, 2020 | 11:45 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge College alumni are being offered a sweet treat ahead of the holidays.

The school is hosting its first ever Alumni Holiday Bakeoff. The Coca-Cola sponsored event is free for all alumni to get involved.

The Alumni Engagement office has 200 free Kodiak Coke Cake baking kits available. The kits feature pre-measured and ready-to-mix ingredients along with a step-by-step recipe.

Those that take part can bake the cake in their own home and decorate it as they wish. After that, participants can submit a photo for a publicly judged competition, with a prize pack going to the winner.

“We want our alumni to know we are thinking of them this holiday season, so this is a way to get everyone involved in a fun and safe activity,” said Stephanie Savage, Alumni Engagement coordinator, in a college-issued release.

“Particularly in this year, where we’ve had to celebrate so many moments apart, this is a fun activity to help unite us. I’m excited to see the creativity of our alumni and to share all the submissions in the lead-up to the holiday break.”

The cake recipe is sweetened by Chef Amanda Kawchuk, an instructor and graduate of the college’s School of Culinary Arts.

College alumni can sign up for a free kit here and then pick it up by driving through the college’s front loop between 4 and 6 p.m. on December 3 or 4. All participants need to provide are eggs and oil to complete the cake recipe.

Photos of the decorated cake can be submitted until December 15 by emailing the college’s Alumni Engagement department at alumni@lethbridgecollege.ca.

Submitted photos will be posted on the Alumni Engagement Facebook page and voting will take place from December 16 to 21.

The winner will be announced on December 23 and will receive a $25 Amazon gift card, a $20 Tim Hortons gift card and a selection of Lethbridge College and Coca-Cola swag.
