LETHBRIDGE, AB – As a means of responding to the Government of Alberta’s new COVID-19 restrictions this week, the City of Lethbridge is changing the way people book spots for certain facilities.

For pools and other leisure facilities managed by Recreation Excellence, you can now reserve your time online. A couple of examples of these are Nicholas Sheran Leisure Centre and Stan Siwik Pool.

The city is also advising the public:

  • You must have an account in order to book a spot for public skating or swimming. Adult users can add family members to their account
  • If your family has an existing online account for swimming, you will need to log in at www.lethbridge.ca/publicskating and re-add family members. Although the online booking sites look the same, it is only partially connected and not all information is able to be brought over from the swimming portal
  • Every individual – particularly those in family or group bookings – must be registered for their own spot in the chosen session.
  • The system does not currently accept online payments but it will secure spots at specific sessions. Activity participants are asked to make payments at the arena or pool before their assigned session using cash, debit or credit card.

According to the city, public skating is designed for leisurely skating only. Hockey play is only permitted at public shinny skates, which are on hold due to COVID-19 guidelines.
