Another 1,307 COVID cases in Alberta, 16 in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released Tuesday’s report on COVID-19, covering statistics from the past 24 hours.

1,307 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 59,484. Of those, 16,628 cases are active while 42,305 people have recovered.

That includes 42 infections in the South Zone. Locally, Lethbridge had by far the most with another 16 positive tests.

Currently, 672 cases are active in the region with 210 of those in Lethbridge.

This week, the City of Lethbridge extended its mandatory face mask bylaw until February 23, 2021.

Since yesterday’s update, 10 Albertans died from COVID including seven people in the Edmonton Zone, two in the Calgary Zone, and one in the South Zone. To date, the virus has resulted in 551 deaths in Alberta.

The death in the South Zone was for a woman in her 70’s. It is linked to an outbreak at the Kainai Continuing Care Centre.

Provincially, 479 patients are currently hospitalized and 97 have been admitted to intensive care.

2,270,972 tests have been completed among 1,480,386 different people.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is as follows:

  • Calgary zone – 24,360 cases, 6,162 active
    • 200 deaths (two new)
    • 154 in hospital, 34 in ICU
  • Edmonton zone – 24,093 cases, 7,552 active
    • 244 deaths (seven new)
    • 245 in hospital, 51 in ICU
  • South zone – 3,932 cases, 672 active
    • 45 deaths (one new)
    • 18 in hospital, five in ICU
  • North zone – 3,906 cases, 895 active
    • 46 deaths
    • 27 in hospital, two active
  • Central zone – 2,965 cases, 1,249 active
    • 16 deaths
    • 35 in hospital, five in ICU

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,285 cases (two new), 40 active, 13 deaths
  • Lethbridge – 1,025 cases (16 new), 210 active, seven deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 402 cases (three new), 79 active, two deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 332 cases (four new), 54 active, three deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 291 cases (nine new), 77 active, two deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 332 cases (three new), 67 active, two deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 276 cases (three new), 105 active, four deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 257 cases (six new), 101 active, four deaths
  • Cardston County – 170 cases (four new), 28 active, six deaths (one new)
  • County of Warner – 122 cases (one new), 33 active, one death
  • Cypress County – 116 cases, 22 active, zero deaths
  • County of Newell – 113 cases (four new), 24 active, two deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 109 cases (two new), 19 active, one death
  • Fort Macleod – 48 cases, two active, three deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 40 cases (two new), eight active, two deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – Seven cases, two active, zero deaths
