Former U of L basketball star named to Canada West Hall of Fame

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Shawna (Molcak) Kolaczek has been enshrined in the Canada West Hall of Fame.

The basketball stand-out played five seasons at the University of Lethbridge, crafting a resume that cemented her as one of the school’s all-time best.

Between 1987 and 1991, the Cardston-born athlete was the Pronghorns Female Athlete of the Year on four occasions. In 1989, she was named Canada West’s women’s basketball Player of the Year.

On Tuesday, Dec. 1, she was announced as the latest inductee to the Hall of Fame as Canada West continues to unveil its 2020-2021 class. Kolaczek was an all-star every season she played with the ‘Horns and finished her university career with 1,551 points – the most in the program’s history and 12th all-time in Canada West.

On the international stage, she competed for Canada at many major events, including the 1996 Olympic Summer Games in Atlanta.
