Coaldale mourns passing of emergency services member

COALDALE, AB – The community of Coaldale is mourning the loss of Captain Craig Wilson.

The member of Coaldale & District Emergency Services passed away early Thursday evening, December 3. Coaldale & District Emergency Services announced his passing in a social media post, attributing his death to a brief battle with cancer.

Earlier on Thursday, Captain Wilson received his 30 years of service award. A short ceremony at his home was followed by a parade of fire trucks driving past his house.

“We will forever be in debt for the service Capt. Wilson has given to our community over the past 30 years,” the service said in a Facebook post.

“He was extremely proud to be a firefighter with the Coaldale and District Emergency Services, he gave everything he had to this service and ultimately paid the ultimate sacrifice for it.”

The service said Captain Wilson was a great man and captain and was looked up to by many.
