New daily heat records set in Alberta over last two days

LETHBRIDGE, AB– Across the province, new temperature records were broken over the last two days thanks to a warm air mass.

According to Environment Canada, the following records were broken.

Wednesday, December 2:

Elk Island Area

New record of 8.1, Old record of 7.1 set in 2015 Records in this area have been kept since 1966

High River Area

New record of 13.6, Old record of 10.6 set in 1915 Records in this area have been kept since 1913

Sundre Area

New record of 11.9, Old record of 8.8 set in 2004 Records in this area have been kept since 1993

The following areas set a daily maximum temperature record on Thursday, December 3, 2020:

Airdrie Area

Preliminary new record of 16.1, Old record of 12.8 set in 1939 Records in this area have been kept since 1881

Calgary Area

Preliminary new record of 16.1, Old record of 12.8 set in 1939 Records in this area have been kept since 1881

Cardston Area

Preliminary new record of 14.0, Old record of 13.0 set in 1988 Records in this area have been kept since 1918

Claresholm Area
