REVELSTOKE, B.C. – Revelstoke RCMP have issued a pair of tickets to a Southern Alberta woman.

At approximately 5:20 am on Saturday, December 6, the 43-year-old went to the local Tim Horton’s.

After multiple requests from the business staff, officers say she would not wear a face mask as is required under B.C.’s Public Health Order.

RCMP attended the restaurant, and after explaining the provincial regulations, they claim she refused to leave.

“Both the business staff and the police officers who attended the call attempted to reason with the female and explain the current Public Health Order,” says Sgt. Chris Dodds. “However, in the end, the woman refused to comply with police direction and action was taken both criminally and through the issuance of provincial violation tickets.

She was later released outside of the establishment with an undertaking to appear in Revelstoke Provincial Court and conditions to not attend the Tim Hortons.

The woman was issued two $230 tickets for “allegedly failing to wear a face covering in indoor public space and abusive / belligerent behavior.”

RCMP did not provide the suspect’s name to LNN.
