LETHBRIDGE, AB – Hockey Canada has announced its 25-man roster for the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship. Lethbridge Hurricanes captain Dylan Cozens is one of the players selected.

The 19-year-old is one of 14 forwards named to the team. He played for Canada at the 2020 World Junior Championship last season, helping the team secure a gold medal in the Czech Republic.

The skater from Whitehorse, Yukon collected nine points (two goals, seven assists) along with six penalty minutes and a plus-4 rating in seven games.

Cozens, a first-round draft pick for the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres, is one of six returnees from last year’s championship-winning team.

In the shortened 2019-2020 Western Hockey League (WHL) season, Cozens recorded a career-high 85 points, including 38 goals and 47 assists, along with 38 penalty minutes and a plus-23 rating.

He’s skated in 179 regular season games for the Lethbridge club, amassing 223 points (95 goals and 128 assists) along with 88 penalty minutes and a plus-49 rating.

Cozens is the first Lethbridge Hurricanes player to represent Canada back-to-back at the World Junior Championships since Zach Boychuk won gold in 2008 and 2009.

The 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship tournament will take place in Edmonton from December 25 until January 5 at Rogers Place.

Canada will start its gold medal defense on Boxing Day, December 26, against Germany.
