Saturday numbers show Alberta records 13 new COVID-19 deaths

EDMONTON, AB. — With 1,666 recoveries, this marks the second straight day of a decline in active cases. Today’s drop was 89 to 20,072, after it declined by two on Friday.

The 13 additional deaths bring the provincial toll to 697. Most of the deaths were in Calgary and Edmonton, with non new deaths in the South Zone.

There are 681 Albertans in hospital, down by three, and 128 in ICU, up by five.

With 20,227 tests done in the last day, that gives Alberta a one-day positivity rate of 7.9 per cent, down from Friday’s 8.3 per cent

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is as follows:

Active cases by health zone:

— Edmonton: 9,548 (-22)

— Calgary: 7,127 (-39)

— North: 1,236 (-4)

— South: 589 (-23)

— Unknown: 50 (-21

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,313 cases (2 new), 31 active, 14 deaths
  • Lethbridge – 1,236 cases (17 new), 223 active, seven deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 469 cases (3 new), 70 active, two deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 382 cases (4 new), 57 active, three deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 385 cases (10 new), 96 active, two deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 388 cases (3 new), 46 active, three deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 366 cases (5 new), 95 active, five deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 288 cases (up two), 38 active (down 8), five deaths
  • Cardston County – 216 cases (one new), 46 active, six deaths
  • County of Warner – 137 cases, 12 active, two deaths
  • Cypress County – 131 cases (2 new), 12 active, zero deaths
  • County of Newell – 131 cases (3 new), 14 active, two deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 112 cases, three active (down 2), two deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 77 cases (8 new), 36 active, two deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 53 cases, five active, three deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – Nine cases, two active, zero deaths
