“Mr. Plow” and “Plowy McPlowFace” among top names for Coaldale’s new snowplow

COALDALE, AB – The Town of Coaldale wants your help in naming its new snowplow and the three most popular names are…interesting.

Community Development Intern with the town Leia Cathro says they created a survey on this as a way of engaging with the community on something more light-hearted while raising awareness of the fact that a new snowplow has been purchased.

“We first surveyed the community back in late October and got a whole list of names and we came back with the top three names. This engagement is sort of a winner-takes-all poll where the name that the community selects will ultimately be the name of the snowplow.”

The top three suggestions are:

• Plowy McPlowFace
• Snowy McSnowFace
• Mr. Plow

“We were definitely hoping for some funnier names and we definitely encouraged puns and we definitely got some.”

Cathro says her favourite of the three is Plowy McPlowFace.

Mr. Plow plays homage to a classic episode of The Simpsons while the other two carry on a recent naming tradition that started with Boaty McBoatface being given to a polar research ship in the U.K.

The public is asked to select which of these three names should be adopted as the truck’s official name.
