No new COVID cases in Lethbridge, 15 across South Zone

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released its report on COVID-19 for Tuesday, detailing statistics compiled over the past 24 hours.

879 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 99,141. Of those, 14,785 cases are active while 83,328 people have recovered.

With just over 11,000 tests completed in the past 24 hours, Alberta currently has a positivity rate of about 7.7 per cent.

Approximately 77 per cent of the new infections were in the Edmonton and Calgary Zones, which saw 356 and 317 positive tests respectively.

Meanwhile, in the South Zone, only 15 people contracted the virus. This is one of the lowest numbers the region has seen in months. Medicine Hat made up a slight majority of the new cases with eight.

Lethbridge did not see a single new COVID-19 case in today’s report.

Active infections in the region have fallen to 302, which includes 104 in Lethbridge.

Since yesterday’s report, 26 Albertans died from COVID including 15 in the Edmonton Zone, 10 in the Calgary Zone, and one in the South Zone. The person from the South Zone was from Medicine Hat.

Provincially, 890 patients are currently hospitalized and 153 have been admitted to intensive care.

To date, there have been 2,765,925 tests conducted on 1,646,316 different people.

The provincial breakdown by health zone is as follows:

  • Edmonton Zone – 42,684 cases, 6,701 active
    • 499 in hospital, 85 in ICU
    • 544 deaths (15 new)
  • Calgary Zone – 38,211 cases, 5,244 active
    • 232 in hospital, 51 in ICU
    • 323 deaths (10 new)
  • North Zone – 6,756 cases, 1,034 active
    • 56 in hospital, four in ICU
    • 65 deaths
  • Central Zone – 6,359 cases, 1,466 active
    • 91 in hospital, 11 in ICU
    • 39 deaths
  • South Zone – 4,954 cases, 302 active
    • 12 in hospital, two in ICU
    • 57 deaths (one new)

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,343 cases, 21 active, 14 deaths
  • Lethbridge – 1,397 cases, 104 active, eight deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 515 cases, 29 active, two deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 449 cases, 47 active, four deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 433 cases, 28 active, two deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 456 cases (eight new), 60 active, eight deaths (one new)
  • Lethbridge County – 424 cases (one new), 29 active, three deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 309 cases (one new), 14 active, six deaths
  • Cardston County – 267 cases, 30 active, six deaths
  • Cypress County – 142 cases (two new), zero active, zero deaths
  • County of Warner – 142 cases, zero active, two deaths
  • County of Newell – 138 cases, two active, two deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 113 cases, zero active, two deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 104 cases (two new), 19 active, three deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 69 cases, nine active, three deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – 11 cases, two active, zero deaths
