Man charged following armed confrontation in west Lethbridge home

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Police dealt with a stressful incident this week.

On December 29, officers responded to a disturbance at a home on the west side of Lethbridge.

LPS members were speaking with occupants of the home to find out what assistance they could offer when a man appeared out of a nearby room. Police say the man was armed with two black pistols and pointed them at the officers.

Police quickly disarmed the man and took him into custody without incident.

Trent Brando Oka has been charged with:

  • Assaulting a Peace Officer with a Weapon
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Using an Imitation Firearm in Committing an Offence
  • Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public
  • Two counts of Assault

Oka was released after a Judicial Interim Release Hearing with a court date of January 29, 2021.
