“Highly-agitated” man found downtown charged by Lethbridge Police

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Police in Lethbridge have charged a 32-year-old man following an incident in the downtown core this week.

At around 9:30 Thursday night, January 7, LPS responded to reports of a male who had smashed a window at business in the 500 block of 7 Street South. Subsequent reports stated the man had threatened the driver of a vehicle in the area with a knife.

Police say they located a “highly-agitated” man standing in the center median of 6 Avenue South at 6 Street. Official note the man was holding a knife in each hand. Within a few minutes of the arrival of police, officers convinced the man to drop the knives.

He was taken into custody without further incident.

Brad Badura, of no fixed address, faces the following charges:

  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Mischief
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Three counts of failing to comply with conditions of a release order

Badura is being held in custody while awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
