”Freedom Rally” held at City Hall

LETHBRIDGE, AB. — The “WethepeopleYQL” group in Lethbridge, which opposes COVID-19 restrictions and mandatory mask rules, held a rally Tuesday (Jan 12) afternoon, ignoring Government social distancing and gathering rules.

About 40 of the group’s supporters gathered in front of City Hall at noon – most were not wearing masks and the entire group ignored personal distancing.

The “Freedom Rally”, outside city hall, opposes all government mandates of restrictions, masks, gathering limits, and travelling, to show that “WethepeopleYQL” won’t live under lockdown.

Organizer Tony Hall, says factors contributing to the rally include “the great reset” and that “Justin Trudeau and Jason Kenney are a part of it.”

Hall stated Canadians shouldn’t fear one another because of COVID-19 and if people “took off the masks, went back to work, and carried on with our lives, we would be okay.”

“We’ve been living with the flu, the common cold, for years. All my life, I’ve never seen anything like it, and I don’t understand what the justification is,” Hall adds, explaining that according to him, COVID is simply nothing to be worried about.

Hall also says “the media” is part of the problem, and that “the media” is picking a side, especially with COVID-19.

“Some people are allowed to speak and others who are not allowed to speak,” he adds, the average citizen isn’t allowed to give their opinion on COVID and restrictions.

When a media outlet attempted to photograph some of those in attendance, they would hide their faces behind the sign they had brought.

Hall claimed the media was doing nothing but ‘fake news’ and told those who attended to not “believe everything that is broadcast or on the front page of the paper,” and tells people to question how news outlets are doing their job.

Immediately after lambasting the media, Hall thanked the news outlets for covering the event.

Lethbridge Police officers were present at the rally, where concerns over mandatory health measures were expressed. Police are presently investigating the matter and charges may be pending. More information will be provided when available.
