Nominations open for Alberta Order of Excellence

EDMONTON, AB – Albertans can nominate citizens of note for the province’s highest honour.

Nominations are open for the Alberta Order of Excellence.

Up to 10 people will be inducted into the Order this year in recognition of their contributions to their community, the province and beyond.

Nominations are accepted year-round but have to be received by February 15 to be considered for membership this year. Those not selected in 2021 will be considered for up to three years.

Those in consideration for the Order must be Canadian citizens currently living in Alberta and have to be able to attend the investiture ceremony. People cannot nominate themselves, their spouse or a member of their immediate family. As well, the Order cannot be given posthumously.

Nomination forms are available through the Government of Alberta’s website.

Past inductees include musician k.d. lang, Claresholm’s Gary Bowie, former NHL player Sheldon Kennedy and Leroy Little Bear of the Kanai First Nation.
