Traffic stop turns into trafficking charges for Barnwell man
STANDOFF, AB. — Blood Tribe Police Service seized carfentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine, during a traffic stop in Standoff on Tuesday (Jan 12). The driver, and lone occupant of the vehicle, provided police with a false name and was found to not be a member of the Blood Tribe.
A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of about 60 grams of carfentanyl, 16 grams of methamphetamine and 4 grams of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $20,000.
46-year-old Marty Fransen of Barnwell, is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Carfentanyl, Methamphetamine and Cocaine, Obstruction and Trespassing. He remains in custody, awaiting a bail hearing.
