AHS reports 366 COVID cases in Alberta, just 12 in South Zone

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released Tuesday’s report on COVID-19, covering statistics compiled over the past 24 hours.

366 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 121,901. Of those, 8,652 cases are active while 111,662 people have recovered.

The provincial positivity rate fell to 4.4 per cent.

In the South Zone, just 12 people contracted the virus including four in Lethbridge.

Active infections fell by 37 across the region and by 11 in Lethbridge.

Since yesterday’s update, 14 Albertans died from COVID including seven in the Edmonton Zone, four in the Calgary Zone, two in the North Zone, and one in the South Zone. To date, the virus has claimed the lives of 1,587 Albertans.

The death in the South Zone was for a person from Medicine Hat.

Provincially, 626 patients are currently hospitalized and 108 have been admitted to intensive care.

Across Alberta, 99,814 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered as of the end of January 25. Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw says approximately 10,000 Albertans now have full immunity from the virus after receiving two doses each.

With another 8,312 tests conducted over the past day, there has now been a total of 3,117,301 tests completed on 1,740,866 different people.

Below is a breakdown of cases per health zone:

  • Edmonton Zone – 50,856 cases, 3,027 active
    • 272 in hospital, 37 in ICU
    • 832 deaths (seven new)
  • Calgary Zone – 46,725 cases, 3,369 active
    • 198 in hospital, 47 in ICU
    • 499 deaths (four new)
  • North Zone – 9,853 cases, 1,132 active
    • 75 in hospital, seven in ICU
    • 104 deaths (two new)
  • Central Zone – 8,611 cases, 746 active
    • 49 in hospital, eight in ICU
    • 83 deaths
  • South Zone – 5,725 cases, 362 active
    • 32 in hospital, nine in ICU
    • 69 deaths (one new)

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone:

  • Brooks – 1,361 cases, four active, 14 deaths
  • Lethbridge – 1,641 cases (four new), 117 active, 11 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 595 cases (one new), 39 active, two deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 559 cases (three new), 56 active, eight deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 489 cases, 22 active, one death
  • Medicine Hat – 525 cases (two new), 24 active, 13 deaths (one new)
  • Lethbridge County – 507 cases (two new), 31 active, seven deaths
  • Cardston County – 449 cases (two new), 100 active, six deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 328 cases, five active, six deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 175 cases (two new), 39 active, three deaths
  • County of Warner – 158 cases, seven active, two deaths
  • County of Newell – 156 cases, 10 active, two deaths
  • Cypress County – 144 cases, one active, zero deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 117 cases, one active, two deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 91 cases, 16 active, three deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – 18 cases, six active, zero deaths
