LETHBRIDGE, AB– A new survey done by the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC), revealed that Canadians have been taking advantage of mother nature during the pandemic.

The study found that 86% of Canadians agree spending time in nature is important to their mental health during COVID-19.

74% of Canadians believe spending time in nature is more important to them now than ever before, given the circumstances.

Even through these Winter months, over 50% say they will want to spend more time outdoors through the coldest months by doing activities.

“The current pandemic has highlighted to many Canadians how important nature is to our physical and mental well-being. NCC’s Landmark Campaign has delivered conservation results just when Canadians need it the most,” Nature Conservancy of Canada, Alberta Regional Vice President, Tom Lynch-Staunton.

78% of Canadians say being in nature is the best way to visit with friends and family right now.

With the ongoing concerns from Canadians over coal development projects in parts of the country especially Alberta, 91% agree Canada must invest now more than ever in protecting, restoring, and caring for nature.

Many people revealed they have had more stress and anxiety throughout the pandemics’ second wave, factoring into the uncertainty of when it will end.
