461 new COVID cases in Alberta Sunday, 27 in South Zone

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released Sunday’s report on COVID-19, covering statistics compiled over the past 24 hours.

461 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 124,208. Of those, 7,505 cases are active while 115,064 people have recovered.

There were 11 positive tests in Lethbridge over that course of time. Active infections in the city rose by seven and have dropped across the region.

Since yesterday’s update, eight Albertans have died from COVID making the total 1,639.

Provincially, 561 patients are currently hospitalized and 101 have been admitted to intensive care.

With another 8,946 tests completed over the past day, there has now been a total of 3,173,530 tests conducted on 1,755,309 different people.

There have been 106,254 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine administered across the province as of the end of January 30.

Below is a breakdown of cases per health zone:

  • Edmonton Zone – 51,464 cases, 2,475 active
    • 228 in hospital, 37 in ICU
    • 858 deaths (three new)
  • Calgary Zone – 47,674 cases, 3,026 active
    • 187 in hospital, 44 in ICU
    • 511 deaths (seven new)
  • North Zone – 10,180 cases, 947 active
    • 68 in hospital, six in ICU
    • 112 deaths (one new)
  • Central Zone – 8,876 cases, 700 active
    • 44 in hospital, six in ICU
    • 87 deaths
  • South Zone – 5,873 cases, 334 active
    • 34 in hospital, eight in ICU
    • 71 deaths

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone:

  • Brooks – 1,361 cases, three active, 14 deaths
  • Lethbridge – 1,725 cases (11 new), 141 active, 12 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 616 cases (two new), 41 active, two deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 598 cases (three new), 69 active, nine deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 512 cases (six new), 30 active, one death
  • Medicine Hat – 527 cases, 17 active, 13 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 513 cases, 29 active, seven deaths
  • Cardston County – 489 cases (15 new), 85 active, six deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 328 cases, four active, six deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 182 cases, 34 active, four deaths
  • County of Warner – 158 cases, four active, two deaths
  • County of Newell – 157 cases, five active, two deaths
  • Cypress County – 145 cases, two active, zero deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 117 cases, one active, two deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 92 cases, five active, three deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – 24 cases (one new), five active, zero deaths
