Only 13 new COVID cases in South Zone

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released Monday’s report on COVID-19, covering statistics compiled over the past 24 hours.

355 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 124,563. Of those, 7,387 cases are active while 115,527.

In the South Zone, 13 tested positive with just eight coming from Lethbridge.

Active infections in the city rose by three but fell by four across the region.

Since yesterday’s update, 10 Albertans died from COVID including four each in the Calgary and Edmonton Zones, and two in the North Zone. To date, the virus has claimed the lives of 1,649.

Provincially, 556 patients are currently hospitalized and 102 have been admitted to intensive care.

With another 7,294 tests completed over the past day, there has now been a total of 3,180,848 tests conducted on 1,757,371 different people.

As of the end of January 31, there have been 106,347 doses of COVID-19 vaccines administered in Alberta. Approximately 16,200 people have received the recommended two doses.

Below is a breakdown of cases per health zone:

  • Edmonton Zone – 51,570 cases, 2,439 active
    • 225 in hospital, 38 in ICU
    • 862 deaths (four new)
  • Calgary Zone – 47,802 cases, 2,950 active
    • 187 in hospital, 44 in ICU
    • 515 deaths (four new)
  • North Zone – 10,229 cases, 934 active
    • 63 in hospital, seven in ICU
    • 114 deaths (two new)
  • Central Zone – 8,939 cases, 709 active
    • 44 in hospital, six in ICU
    • 87 deaths
  • South Zone – 5,886 cases, 330 active
    • 35 in hospital, seven in ICU
    • 71 deaths

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone:

  • Brooks – 1,361 cases, two active, 14 deaths
  • Lethbridge – 1,733 cases (eight new), 144 active, 12 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 617 cases (one new), 39 active, two deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 599 cases (one new), 68 active, nine deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 517 cases (five new), 35 active, one death
  • Medicine Hat – 527 cases, 16 active, 13 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 514 cases (one new), 26 active, seven deaths
  • Cardston County – 490 cases (one new), 83 active, six deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 328 cases, four active, six deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 185 cases (three new), 34 active, four deaths
  • County of Warner – 158 cases, four active, two deaths
  • County of Newell – 157 cases, five active, two deaths
  • Cypress County – 145 cases, two active, zero deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 117 cases, one active, two deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 92 cases, four active, three deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – 24 cases, five active, zero deaths
