LETHBRIDGE, AB – A Canadian retailer with a location in Lethbridge has made a significant donation to a local charity.

Bianca Amor’s Liquidation Supercentre is giving more than one million face masks and tens of thousands of other PPE items to the United Way in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

For the United Way in Lethbridge, they received over 60,000 masks, 1,800 bottles of hand sanitizer, and thousands of other pieces of PPE.

Company founder Bianca Amor says donating items just felt like the right thing to do.

“As someone who has been buying and distributing product for 20 years, I understand the efficiency of distribution, and that’s something I really admire about the United Way – their ability to do the work and get things out to the people who need them.”

The charity has temporarily transformed their downtown Lethbridge office into a PPE distribution centre.

United Way executive director Janelle Marietta says they were extremely grateful to learn about this donation, especially considering how many non-profits in the region are struggling just to stay afloat nevertheless purchase additional equipment.

“Making sure organizations can continue to provide frontline services safely is incredibly important, and we’re so thankful to Bianca Amor for this gift. It shows that this is a company that cares about the health and wellbeing of communities, and we appreciate it.”

The Lethbridge United Way has already started distributing the donated items to more than 60 non-profits across southwestern Alberta.
